Terminator once posted some stuff about how the actuation system of one of the Transformers works.
I'd like to know more about it, if there's anything else that Terminator didn't tell us...

Transformers are mainly electric. They have a nydraulic system, but they can function fine without it. The hydraulic system is only for extra power, when they want to hit something with more force than they could using only the electric system.
When that happens, their main processor sends a signal to a processor that only regulates actuation, which activates hydraulics and they become a great deal more powerful.
