I became interested in robotics lately and I have a question for all you robotics gurus...
How do you do the weight-shift in bipedal walking robots? Ken told me once that Timmy had told him that designing the weight-shift was hard, but I want a more detailed explanation.

Well, then the robot picks up its left leg to walk, a machine pumps water into the right leg, keeping it both centered and weighted down.

How will you maintain the supply of water? It's going to evaporate!

It's in a sealed tank...

This project has been postponed, actually... So we have plenty of time to figure this out.

If water changes location from one tank to another then it has to have space in which to move - which means it sloshes. If it sloshes then it has potential and kinetic energies... as they change the system is not stable.
What will stablise the system?

There's a pump that moves it from one tank to the other.
Do you guys know how hydraulic systems work?

Yes - I understand - but Eet asked what will stabilize the system as the water is being moved from one place to another

If its in a sealed tube, whats unstable about it?

If the water cannot shift at all the weight cannot shift and the item cannot walk. Walking is based on the ability to shift weight and keep one's balance while so doing.

Isn't there also the element of balance?
