No, no, no, no! It takes 3-4 weeks to move, I know, I've moved 10 times.

Why would it take longer to move than it takes for your stuff to arrive? Get a new place, cancel your old place, move your stuff. Unpacking, now that might take awhile...
It doesn't even take 4 weeks to move from NY to California!

rock repelling my literate friend is when you get in a harness and jump down a rock. ziplining: climb a tall tree and hook yourself up to a rope that swings you down.

Try doing moving by yourself in a U-HAUL. It isn't quick or fun.

*falls over laughing*
No, I moved three hours from where I used to live, plus we had horses to transport. You want a pits-'o'-hell move? Driving nonstop from Oklahoma to Ohio was hell. From 7:00 A.M. to 5:00 A.M. driving, only taking short bathroom breaks along the way.

If you used a U-Haul two facts apply: 1. You have very few possessions; 2. Someone rented the cheapest, least comfortable truck.
You, yourself, state the drive (actual move) took ONE day. If you had stayed in a hotel room overnight it would have taken two days. It would never have taken several weeks! If you (or the person paying for the move) moved to take a job it is a tax write-off.
Darkfire I moved from from Nashville to Milwaukee to take a job. If you ever move I suggest Budget not U-Haul (or Penske) as they maintain their trucks!

Yes, I moved with my family from NY to CA. I thought it was easy. I organized my stuff into boxes before we moved and it arrived one week later already organized, so I only had to open the boxes with my name on them. We stayed in hotels with swimming pools the whole way. My Dad can't stand cheap beds and my mom can't stand cheap food, and my brother was little back then so we had to have quiet. It was a good move and alot of fun.
